Spooked by Cracking Bones?

Spooked by Scary Chiropractors?

Does the concept of seeing a chiropractor give you goose bumps? Well that may be because people associate chiropractors with the joint/body manipulation of “back cracking”. While 80-90% of chiropractors perform manual adjustments, some favor non-manual and use of an activator. Although a manual self-adjustment provides you immediate release, and you feel on top of the world, a handful of patient outcomes exhibit short-term results. If you have ever known someone, perhaps even yourself, who pops their knuckles or neck, you may notice it is an everyday routine, and even multiple times a day. While cracking your bones and joints is not necessarily harmful to you, it has the ability to create additional space between your joints, later developing into arthritis and greater water retention.

Chiropractic care is a fantastic form of health and wellness because it is an all-natural, non-invasive form of treatment. Other techniques used include electrical muscular stimulation, ultrasounds, activator usage and massage. Fortunately, these techniques work together to ensure a healthy spinal alignment and optimal physical wellness.

Chiropractors worldwide choose their own forms, but the preponderance will tell you NOT to adjust yourself, just leave it to the pros. There is a logical reason chiropractors are licensed doctors and attend higher education for years. Cracking your own neck and back can be detrimental. Many people manually manipulate their body; usually their fingers, neck, and back regularly. However, do you really want to risk it and become one of those freak accident cases?

Comprehensive studies have been conducted regarding knuckle cracking, but not as many have evaluated people self-adjusting their back or neck, by use of a chair or their hands. We ask you, think about what you are doing- “I crack my neck and back daily”. Many people’s reactions should be; “Wow-not normal”, or, “Oh my goodness, what’s wrong”. Cracking any part of your body should not be conducted without a licensed chiropractor, because of the harm you could do to yourself. People who are unaware of their bodies may have a herniated disc, or scoliosis, and can even give themselves a stroke. Like we said; freak accidents.

Educate yourself on the significance of chiropractic care, and do not be frightened to go to a certified professional for any issues you may have! Chiropractors are not scary, we are here to help you and make those aches and pains go away!

Don't Fall into Fall

Summer has come to an end, so no more slip n’ slides until next year. However, what about all those other slips that happen year round? Slips and falls can occur at any moment, and sometimes the smallest accidents can have detrimental, long-term repercussions. Whether you're playing ball out back, standing on a stool to reach your cereal, or a light fender bender, small and severe injuries can manifest over time. The majority of the time, there is nothing to worry about, although that does not mean you should not check. Our bodies are not as young and durable as they were yesterday, nor will they be tomorrow.

After a fall, anybody may experience trauma to the bones, joints, muscle or ligaments in any place of the body. Now consider all the minor slips and falls that your body has experienced over your lifetime. Fortunately, chiropractic care is a holistic, non-invasive and drug-free treatment option that anybody can try. Chiropractors adjust the spine to correct misalignment's and discard the blockage in the nervous system as a result of the injury. Additionally, any adjustments the doctor may perform on you can effectively alleviate pain by amplifying your range of motion and your body’s power to heal.

For those of you who say, “Well I don’t have slips and falls or back- pain”- congratulations! You are one of the few people in this world we all envy. Nonetheless, it doesn’t mean your body couldn’t use chiro-care.

Since our spinal cord connects to our nervous system, it extends all the way from the brain, to the body, and back. By this standard, extensive research has been performed and proven that chiropractic care has the ability to improve a huge variety of conditions and disorders-including blood pressure, arthritis, sleep issues, and migraines. So what are you waiting for?

Got Text-Neck?

The Dangers on Your Body because of Smart-Phones

With today's technology, we are beginning to see the extreme damage that smart-phones are beginning to have on our bodies. For children and young adults, spinal damage is more threatening as their bodies are still developing, and high technology usage begins at an earlier age for longer periods of time.

For generations we have sat down to read a book, and endured little to no spinal harm. Now, texting, or more specifically, looking down at your smartphone, has become the newest danger. While we are facing down either way, texting and mobile usage adds activity and is done for longer periods of time, rather than holding a copy of the latest New York Times best-seller. “A recent study shows that 79% of the population between the ages 18 and 44 have their cell phones with them almost all the time—with only 2 hours of their waking day spent without their cell phone on hand” (IDC; Facebook 2). Just by looking at the image below, we see that at a straight level, our head only weighs 10-12 pounds on average. By tilting your head a mere 60 degrees forward to look at your phone, you are adding nearly 50 pounds of additional weight-just think of the detrimental consequences on your spine!

To add on to your text-neck side effects, holding your phone in your hand at a lower level commonly leads to headaches, muscle tightness/tension/pain in your shoulders, wrists, thumbs, and down your arms. While your neck struggles to support your head, your poor posture then begins to adopt these negative ramifications.  More research is coming to light about the long-term effects of smartphones, and how they are ultimately changing our spines natural curve. While limiting cell-phone use is the best way to prevent spinal curvature, having a licensed chiropractor correct your spine through corrective care may be your next best option!
